A $1 billion technology solutions provider lacked a corporate-wide business Project Management Office (PMO), resulting in costly delivery inefficiencies and poor resource allocations across the organization. There was an absence of best practice processes, project management tools, templates, and documents for their day-to-day project management activities. In addition, they had no repeatable and predictable project success, and no mechanism to track resource allocation and utilization across PM resources.
We partnered with our client to assess the current state of project management (PM) across the organization, allowing for comparison to best practices and gap identification. We created a PMO Center of Excellence to centralize a standard PM methodology, best practices, and reporting templates, and documented processes to ensure alignment across PM teams. In addition, we helped our client select a project portfolio management (PPM) tool to support the new processes, and facilitated consistent KPI and BI reporting and resource management.
