Standardized Processes Increase Efficiencies

Program & Project Leadership

The Challenge

A global broadcasting organization that manages cable and satellite networks had multiple Project Management Offices (PMOs) across the US, APAC, UK, and Europe. Company leadership lacked the ability to comprehensively track and monitor projects and resources across the organization, as the project management teams used a number of disparate Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools, applications, and processes to report on project health. This environment led to inefficiencies in resource allocation and project budgets across the organization.

The Solution

We worked with client PMO stakeholders to define current state processes across several global PMO locations.  We then aligned PMO processes to project management best practices from point of project intake through delivery. Early in the effort we implemented a PPM tool with basic functionality to quickly reduce PM administrative work, and then added additional functionality in an iterative approach over the course of the client engagement to optimize their ability to track and deliver projects.

The Results

  • Established a PM framework and implemented a PPM tool that provided teams with the ability to consistently deliver on their projects.
  • Better allocation of PM resources across global operations, exposing them to other project opportunities and helping them develop new skills.
  • Provided leadership with a clear view of project intake approvals, portfolio management, and project health across global locations.
  • Standardized processes and methodologies to increase project delivery efficiencies.
