Cost Savings through Cloud Migration for International Corporation

Microsoft Cloud Solutions

The Challenge

An international mining company with facilities in Europe, North America and Africa needed to adapt to the needs of their hybrid working environment by migrating to the cloud. However, they did not have the required expertise amongst their internal teams to handle the project.

Aspirant was tasked with eliminating on-premises mail servers and storage to reduce costs and account for the company’s growth needs.

The Solution

By guiding the client through an initial self-assessment, Aspirant was able to quickly ascertain the specific current state and develop a phased approach to move forward. Specific milestones and target dates for migration groups were set by the client, providing a clear path to the desired future state. Aspirant assisted with licensing, migrating mailboxes from on-premises to Exchange Online, provisioning their OneDrive for Business accounts, and migrating their personal home folder data to their OneDrive for Business accounts. Additionally, any employees using Skype were migrated to Microsoft Teams.

The Results

  • Aspirant scaled to the client’s required timeline and fast-tracked initial mailboxes to Exchange Online, reducing communication issues.
  • The client saw immediate cost savings due to negated on-premises mail servers and storage maintenance (both hardware and software).
