Aspirant employees joined hundreds of other prominent corporate, civic, and community leaders from across the City of Pittsburgh at the Father’s Day Pledge to end gender violence on June 13, 2019. Aspirant President Mike McClaine also spoke at the event.

The Father’s Day Pledge is an opportunity for men to join women in taking action to end domestic violence and sexual assault. During the rally to end violence, leaders from multiple sectors and a groundswell of supporters recited and sign a 5-by-7-foot pledge banner at US Steel Tower plaza. Several companies, including UPMC, PNC, and Koppers, also had employees at the event.

Domestic and sexual violence affect us all – either directly or through people we know. In fact, 75% of men in Southwest PA know someone who has been personally affected, and 90% of men agree that, “Men like me have an important role to play in ending violence against women.”

The event, hosted by Southwest PA Says No More, an initiative of FISA Foundation, The Heinz Endowments, and United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania, is open to the public.

Signing the Father’s Day Pledge signals the intention to take action to end domestic violence and sexual assault. It is a commitment to work with others in our community so everyone can live free from fear. You can still sign the pledge.
